Echocardiography

During an echocardiogram, the technologist will require access to different areas of your chest and upper abdomen. You will need to remove all clothing from the waist up. Female patients will be given a disposable sheet to cover up with. You will be laying on your left side for the majority of the ultrasound, with the exception of a few minutes laying flat on your back at the end.

This ultrasound will last approximately 30-45 minutes.

There is no preparation required for an echocardiogram.

Wear comfy clothes to your appointment.

Please arrive 10 minutes early with your Alberta Healthcare card (or other provincial healthcare card) and your requisition if you were given a copy.
